Troy-Miami County Public Library Kicks off Library Card Registration Month
Information provided by the Troy-Miami County Public Library
TROY - Each year the America Library Association uses September as a month to encourage citizens to register for a library card. This year, the Troy-Miami County Public Library (TMCPL) will be celebrating this month long event a little differently. The library is doing a series of outreach events at local businesses in Troy and Pleasant Hill. The outreach events will feature library staff ready to hand out newly activated library cards to registrants as well as bookmarks detailing our services and fun mini-gift bags for kids.
These outreach events will take place at four locations throughout the month of September.
· September 15 from 11am-2pm at Midtown Coffee/Timber & Bow, located at 79 Foss Way, Troy. Midtown Coffee and Timber & Bow will also offer special coupons for library card holders if you show your card.
· September 17 from 11am-2pm at Haran’s Market, located at 2 E. Main Street, Troy.
· September 22 from 4pm-7pm at Culvers, located at 2100 W. Main Street, Troy.
· September 24 from 4pm-7pm at the Newton Field House (behind Newton Schools), located at 201 N. Long Street, Pleasant Hill.
The response from our community partners helping the TMCPL host these events has been outstanding. In each case, the library has touched their lives. The new owners of Timber & Bow had this to say about our Library Card Registration Event: “As parents, we know how essential it is for our children's development to read to them regularly and foster a love of books. We are so thankful for our library and are happy to collaborate with them to hopefully reach even more families!” Connor Haran, of Haran’s Market, said his family uses the library regularly. “I love it because my children love it. With the Dolly Parton Imagination Library they get excited for their new book that comes in the mail every month. It gives me a chance to read it over and over to them.” Culvers of Troy has been a long-time partner of TMCPL and regularly hosted storytimes in their restaurant. The TMCPL staff at our Oakes-Beitman Branch in Pleasant Hill has always had a good relationship with Newton Schools. The newly opened Newton Field House is a great resource to highlight our partnership with these outreach events since the library currently has limited capacity inside the branch.
Your library card opens up a world of resources that extends far beyond books. The library has access to ebooks, audiobooks, several educational databases, and even a lending telescope. The TMCPL encourages everyone to check out our website (www.tmcpl.org) for more information about the Library Card Registration Month and learn how your library can help you! Questions?
