Troy Historical Society Jan. 20 Meeting Open to the Public, "Troy's Historic Black Churches" Topic of Program

TROY - The Troy Historical Society will meet on Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m. at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, 301 W. Main St., Troy. Featured speaker for the evening will be Patrick Kennedy, Archivist for the Troy-Miami County Public Library Local History Library. Kennedy will present a program titled "Troy's Historic Black Churches" in recognition of Black History Month in February.


   The presentation will be a general overview of three historic Black churches in Troy:

-St. James African Methodist (now Community) Church, founded in 1837

-Zion Baptist Church, founded in 1866

-Richards Chapel United Methodist, founded in 1877
