Bike Path Connecting Piqua to Indiana and Urbana Making Progress
PIQUA - According to the Miami Valley Cycling Summit 2021 “Regional Bikeways Update” presented this year, there are many bike path projects taking place in the Miami Valley and in Miami County, as well as those planned for the near future.
In Miami County, this includes:

  • Construct a shared-use path connecting Treasure Island Park and Duke Park in Troy

  • Widen shoulders along State Route 55 and State Route 589, providing an on-street bikeway linking Troy, Casstown and Fletcher

  • Construct a shared-use path roughly paralleling State Route 55 and along former Penn Central Railroad corridor between Ludlow Falls and Troy

  • Replace Great Miami River Trail bridge over Great Miami River in Piqua near the power plant with ADA accessible bicycle and/or pedestrian facility

  • And, seen here in this video and images, complete the Ohio to Indiana Trail between Darke and Champaign counties and through Piqua.

The section seen here runs from Casstown-Sidney Road just north of Garbry Big Woods Reserve to Fletcher. It is a "partially funded" project, according to the above-mentioned report.

In the near future, the trail will connect Piqua with Greenville, Urbana and eventually Indiana.
The bridge replacement in Piqua has been funded and should start in 2023. All other projects on this list have not yet been funded.
