Lutz Announces He's Running for Mayor of Troy
Information from William Lutz's Facebook page
TROY - William Lutz made this announcement on his Facebook page today:

"It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I announce my candidacy for the nomination of the Republican Party to be the next Mayor of this great city in the Primary Election to be held in May 2023.

My desire to become our community’s next Mayor is to build on the strong tradition of good stewardship and effective planning that has made our community a prime destination for residents and businesses for decades. The amazing strides our community has made can be traced back to the greatest asset our community has, our residents.

From my first day as a council member, I have always believed that our residents are the greatest asset our community has. The people who live in our community are hard working, dedicated and generous. Our neighbors want this community to be the best place it can be for themselves and their families and they deserve leadership that believes the best in them.

My vision for our community is to create a city where we can all be proud to call Troy our hometown; a place where we can create a community where everyone can participate and everyone can benefit. And this vision can’t become a reality until our community brings our residents along in the process.

As Mayor, I will direct our staff to undertake a comprehensive survey of our residents to determine how you, our residents, perceive the level of service you are receiving. In those areas where we are weak, we will improve. In those areas we are strong, we will continue to meet and exceed expectations. We will never forget that we are here to serve, not to be served.

As I talk to residents, there is a collective sense that we can and must do better. For example, we have a planning commission that focuses its work downtown, yet no one from downtown has a voice on it. We had a reverse angle parking experiment that lasted way too long with little public support. We lack a cohesive and collective vision to move this city forward. We can do better. During my time on council and in the community, I have worked to be a collaborative problem solver that has provided real solutions to real problems. My personal commitment is to work side-by-side with our residents to create Troy as a small town with big opportunities for everyone. We need to make residents feel good about being part of this amazing and dynamic community and we need an administration that works hard to appreciate our residents who have called Troy home.

Throughout the next few months, my campaign will articulate a positive vision for our community, where the residents and the businesses of this community are the foundation of our future success.

Our community can’t sit idly by resting on our laurels and our past accomplishments to propel us into the future. Rather, it’s going to take everyone. It’s going to take our schools, our nonprofits, our other governmental partners, our residents working together to ensure we create a community we can all be proud to call Troy our hometown.

Troy is the only place I have ever called home. As a youngster, I had a paper route passing out The Troy Daily News. I am a proud graduate of Troy High School. I worked at a local hardware store and I worked in our local schools. Currently, I lead one of the largest faith-based non-profit organizations in the State of Ohio; leading a team that operates two food pantries and a score of other services to help our neighbors. My values are your values - hard work, integrity, generosity, caring for others.

I fully realize that the Republican Primary election for this position is not until May 2023, but there is work to be done and making this announcement now will show my commitment to work towards a successful campaign.
