Rock Out! ODNR Invites People of All Ages to Attend Geology Discovery Day

CELINA – Calling all rock, mineral, and fossil enthusiasts! The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Geological Survey is inviting people of all ages to Geology Discovery Day on Saturday, March 25.

   “Aspects of geology are ingrained in Ohio’s economy, culture, and heritage,” Division geologist and public information specialist Molly E. Hunt said. “We look forward to sharing our knowledge about Ohio geology at this special event.”

   The Division of Geological Survey has partnered with several educational institutions to provide the ultimate geological experience- for free!

   The event will include hands-on learning activities and giveaways, including maps and educational publications. ODNR geologists will be on site to provide rock, mineral, and fossil identification.  ODNR geologists will also be available to provide rock, mineral, and fossil identification. No preregistration is required.

   In addition to the activity stations, visitors can deepen their knowledge of earth science by attending two special presentations geared for all ages:
