False Alarm for Active Shooter at Troy High School

TROY - The Troy Police Department issued this statement this morning in regards to an active-shooter alarm at the high school: "There was a FALSE alarm for an an active shooter at Troy High School this morning. A School Resource Officer in the high school building responded to the alarm immediately, verifying that there is no threat of any kind at Troy High School."

The school plans to release a statement later today but sent out a social media post stating "Any Troy High School students who are upset and need to go home may do so and their absences will be excused. Parents will need to contact the school. This includes calling their child’s cell phone and speaking to a staff member in the office."

Posts on social media indicate that the incident occurred because an alarm was accidentally triggered. Students were seen running from the school and down Market Street toward the Square after the incident.
